‘Ultra Refit completed a range of works on-board Bacchus during our winter in Antigua, from stainless welding to Air Con. repairs to joinery work. Everything we have had done by Michael and his team was well thought out, well executed and completed on time. Their attention to detail and care on-board was always very appreciated and we were constantly impressed by the results of their work.
I look forward to working with Michael again over our future Caribbean seasons and would highly recommend Ultra’s services’ Chris S/Y Bacchus
‘We engaged Ultra Refit after they initially did some warranty work for us. We had some interior joinery projects and some exterior teak and stainless fabrication work on a new yacht. All projects were afterthoughts from the owners after the yacht was delivered, so we needed everything to look like it was there from the build. I was impressed at their attention to detail and the depth of skills and experience in the team. The work was thorough and properly planned and the final results were high quality.’ Harry Blazeby, S/Y On Liberty
“May I take this opportunity to thank all at Ultra Refit for and outstanding effort .
From your acquisitions department to whom nothing was too much of a problem right through to the very capable technician’s that went out of their way to get problems solved no matter what it took. Looking forward to working with Ultra Refit it was a pleasure.” Steve Cobban Chief Engineer, SY Ahimsa
“I had the pleasure and good fortune to work with Michael Coddington and his team in Antigua, as the principal sub-contractors on a Summer-refit I was carrying out on an 82 foot yacht, in 2015. The project, which included major teak deck refurbishment, extensive interior joinery (including the construction on site of new sole boards through much of the vessel ), stainless steel works, engineering refurb and generator replacement to name just a few, was completed on time, on budget, and to the satisfaction of the client, his captain, and their surveyor.
That the project was completed so successfully, and in a spirit of enjoyment, is due in no small part to Michael’s enthusiasm, and the consummate professionalism with which he approaches every task.” Hamish Burgess-Simpson, Agulhas Marine Projects
“ To put it clearly and concisely it was the first time we have used a refit company and it will not be the last. When the need arises, we will look no further than Ultra.” Christopher and Jeanette Price, Hummingbird
“It was a pleasure working with you for our teak deck replacement in Antigua last year. Your dedication to the high quality of workmanship and tight time schedule was brilliant. Michael made everything happen for the project to be completed in 7 weeks while keeping me appraised of the endless details on a daily basis. It was a pleasure to work with you and we look forward to returning to Antigua next year.” Wayne Gould, Captain, Oyster 66 Marlene F
“Having worked with a number of companies in Antigua, we found that Ultra Refit was exactly what we were looking for in a one stop shop for all trades. Amongst the services that we utilised were carpentry, metal works, fibreglass repairs and also refrigeration. Every employee, no matter the trade, has superb attention to detail and complete professionalism. The worksites were left spotless and all work carried out in a timely manner.
Michael oversaw the whole operation from quote to completion, dealing efficiently with every curved ball we threw at him and still managing to meet all of our deadlines. His integrity was refreshing, he would not make a promise to start work he couldn’t complete. We are continuing to work with Ultra Refit from Europe and are already planning next seasons work list for them on our return to Antigua.” Emma Lucas – Chief Engineer, M/Y Shemara
“They were able to work with our very tight schedule and completed all projects on time and at a very fair price considering the quality of the work. Their professionals worked evenings and weekends and stayed within their quotes and were always respectful and careful of the yacht and were a pleasure to work with. In short we were completely satisfied and couldn’t have been ready for the Show and charter without them. It is without hesitation that I would recommend Michael for any project large or small on a vessel of any size.” Michael Williamston, Master, Excellence
“We would like to take this opportunity to highly recommend Michael Coddington.
My wife and I have been sailing our 60 foot cutter in the Caribbean since 1998. In all these years we have had many projects both major and minor done on the boat. Last summer we were extremely fortunate to have chosen Ultra Refit to carry out the extremely difficult and delicate job of removing and replacing cabinetry to allow for hull repairs. Ultra Refit emptied lockers and relocated not just the contents, but also the lockers themselves, cutting bulkheads and removing thresholds, overheads and floorboards to allow for hull repair from the interior of the boat. Michael accomplished all of this flawlessly and without our supervision. Every towel, every piece of equipment, every overhead, floorboard and bulkhead that was moved was back in place when we arrived. What is even more impressive is the quality of Ultra Refit’s work. There are no signs, none, of the work they did. Our boat looked exactly as we left it in June when we returned to it in February. We had to ask Michael to show us where he made cuts in our teak, and even after his tour, we cannot see where he worked. We are very pleased with the high quality of his work!
During the 17 years we have owned our boat, we have had work done in the U.S., in St. Martin, and in Antigua. We have to rate Ultra Refit as one of if not the best vender we have ever used. Ultra Refit is focused on and cares about Mom and Pop operations like ours: people who use and care for their boats and are conscious of costs, but want quality work. You can rely on them to do the job properly, with meticulous attention to detail and for a fair price. We highly recommend your using Ultra Refit.” Avalanche
“When I asked Michael to help me with the refit of my Carriacou sloop, Zemi last year we had a completely blank canvas. I was looking to have an interior that would suit the style of the boat and at the same time be practical, comfortable and simple.
I had no doubt that the quality of the work would be second to none as I had already worked with Mike on Silencio (a 50m Perini Navi) and seen the standard of his work. What I wasn’t sure of was if we could bring superyacht quality and perfection to the Carriacou and make it work! There was also the challenge of me not being in Antigua for any of the refit due to my commitments on Silencio in the Pacific.
After having a look on board and getting a feel for what I was after, we began by playing with various CAD designs to perfect the general arrangement of the interior. We agreed that there should be a feeling of flow through the cabin, emphasising the framing you get in a wooden boat right up to the stem. It seemed to me that the whole way through the project Mike and I were on the same page with regards to how the boat was going to be used and what was going to make it feel ‘right’.
The end result was just as I had envisaged from the beginning. The materials Michael used all worked perfectly with the style of the boat and work areas such as the galley turned out to be practical and robust. The electronics upgrade that Ultra were instrumental in installing was perfect for day to day operations and easy to use.
I am extremely happy to have had Michael on board for this project. I am sure we will continue to work together adding the finishing touches to Zemi’s interior and in making her a truly unique vessel.” Angus John Biffin, Carriacou Sloop Zemi
